Marine Police Save Two Lives in Nigerian Boat Rescue

When a speedboat named "LET'S PRAY" began sinking in the Ibaka waterways of southern Nigeria, marine police officers were already there to answer that prayer.

The boat's driver was attempting a routine maintenance task, adjusting the vessel's seacock to drain accumulated water from the deck. But timing turned against them when a passing boat created powerful waves that destabilized their speedboat, causing it to rapidly take on water instead.

What could have been a tragedy became a rescue story within minutes. Marine police personnel and a surveillance patrol team stationed nearby spotted the trouble immediately and pulled both the driver and conductor from the water safely.

Police spokesperson Timfon John praised the officers for their quick thinking and professionalism. Commissioner of Police Baba Azare personally commended the team for their preparedness and prompt action.
