McKenna Gobin Named Volleyball Player of the Week in Texas

McKenna Gobin proved why she's heading to play college volleyball at Tulsa with a performance that left rival teams scrambling.

The Clemens High School senior crushed 29 kills, added 15 digs, five aces, four blocks, and five assists in a crucial four-set victory against rival Steele. The win came in a battle between the top two teams in District 27-6A, giving the Buffaloes bragging rights and momentum.

Gobin wasn't done after one stellar game. She followed up with 17 kills, 11 digs, and three aces in another four-set win against Judson, cementing her selection as the Express-News Volleyball Player of the Week.

The middle blocker and outside hitter's versatility makes her a nightmare for opposing teams. She can dominate at the net with powerful kills and blocks while also contributing defensively with consistent digs and service aces.

Why This Inspires

Gobin's performance shows what happens when talent meets preparation and big-game mentality. She didn't just show up for one match. She delivered back-to-back dominant performances when her team needed her most, against the toughest competition in her district.

Her success story also highlights the incredible talent developing in San Antonio high school volleyball. Multiple players across the area reached career milestones that same week, including two Brandeis players hitting 1,000 digs and 1,000 assists.

Young athletes watching Gobin compete see a blueprint for excellence. Hard work earned her a college scholarship, and consistent effort keeps her performing at the highest level when the pressure is on.

The Buffaloes are now positioned as district championship contenders thanks to their senior leader's clutch performances. With Gobin leading the charge, Clemens has momentum heading into the crucial final stretch of their season.
