Mexico Adds Direct Flights Between Guadalajara and NYC

Travelers heading to Mexico this winter will have fresh options that skip the layovers and bring destinations closer together.

Starting December 17, Aeroméxico will launch daily nonstop flights between Guadalajara and New York's JFK Airport through January 3. The Boeing 737 service seats 166 passengers and eliminates the need for connections through Mexico City, Monterrey, or US airports that current travelers face.

Guadalajara ranks as one of Mexico's busiest aviation hubs, and this seasonal route expands its winter network from 66 to 71 destinations. The timing targets holiday travelers, Mexican families living in the northeastern US, and business passengers looking for convenient year-end connections.

On October 30, budget carrier Viva will begin twice-weekly flights between Tuxtla Gutiérrez and Oaxaca City. The Monday and Friday service connects two southern states celebrated for their indigenous cultures, archaeological sites, and culinary traditions.

Governor Eduardo Ramírez announced the route will benefit both tourists exploring Mexico's cultural heartland and business travelers moving between the regions. Previously, passengers needed indirect routes to travel between Chiapas and Oaxaca by air.

Central Mexico gets a boost too. Aeroméxico is adding a fourth daily flight between Mexico City and Querétaro on Sundays and Mondays starting October 25.

The afternoon departure leaves Mexico City at 3:25 p.m., landing in Querétaro at 4:34 p.m., with the return flight arriving back in the capital by 6:20 p.m. Monthly capacity on this route jumps from 16,000 seats in September to 23,000 in November, a 40% increase.
