Mexico Aims for 7-Ton Guacamole World Record

Over 600 people will gather in Jalisco, Mexico this June to create the world's largest guacamole, weighing more than seven tons and celebrating the farmers who make it all possible.

The record attempt happens June 18 at the Pan-American Charros Stadium, organized by Jalisco's avocado growers and the Ministry of Agriculture. More than 300 culinary students will lead the preparation, joined by hundreds of producers, volunteers, and agriculture professionals.

The current record belongs to Tancítaro, Michoacán, where 800 volunteers created 6,800 kilos of guacamole in just two and a half hours this April. Jalisco's growers plan to top that impressive feat using a specially donated stainless steel container.

Saúl Medina, president of the Association of Avocado Exporting Producers of Jalisco, says the initiative celebrates the hard work of the state's 3,200 registered avocado producers. These farmers cultivate more than 44,000 hectares of avocado trees across the region.

The celebration goes beyond setting records. Jalisco stands as Mexico's second-largest avocado producer, and officials want the world to know about the quality and innovation happening in their orchards.

The event shines a spotlight on an industry that generates real economic impact for thousands of families. Avocado production in Jalisco creates over 20,000 direct jobs and supports 45,000 more indirect positions throughout the supply chain.

The industry brings in more than 350 million dollars in exports annually. That money flows through local communities, supporting families and strengthening the regional economy.

State officials see the record attempt as a way to open new international markets and boost consumption worldwide. When people see hundreds of Mexicans coming together to celebrate their crop, it builds excitement around the product itself.

Eduardo Ron Ramos, the state secretary for Rural Development, emphasizes that events like this enhance Mexico's image as an agricultural powerhouse. The advanced technology used in Jalisco's plantations produces some of the finest avocados available anywhere.

The massive guac bowl represents something bigger than a record. It honors the farmers who wake up early, tend their trees through seasons, and help feed millions of people around the world with one of nature's most nutritious fruits.
