Miami Marlins Bring Back Teal Jerseys for Sunday Games
The Miami Marlins are reviving their iconic teal jerseys after fans made it clear the color represents their favorite memories of the team. Starting this season, players will wear the throwback uniforms for every Sunday home game.
When the Miami Marlins asked fans what they loved most about the team, one answer kept coming up: teal.
The team listened. Starting this season, the Marlins will wear throwback teal jerseys for all Sunday home games at loanDepot park, bringing back the signature color that defined the franchise when it started in 1993.
Chief brand officer Alex Parker reviewed fan surveys after joining the organization last July and noticed a pattern. People's earliest and most cherished Marlins memories almost always involved that distinctive teal color.
"It really is that bridge between the generations," Parker said. "That teal definitely means a lot to people."
The new uniforms blend the past with the present. The teal jersey pays tribute to the original Florida Marlins era, while modern tailoring gives it a fresh feel for today's team.

Players are excited too. Outfielder Griffin Conine, whose father Jeff Conine is known as "Mr. Marlin," even bought special white and teal cleats just for the occasion.
Manager Clayton McCullough remembers when teal exploded in popularity during the early 1990s thanks to teams like the Marlins, Charlotte Hornets, and San Jose Sharks. Trying on the uniform took him back to his teenage years in North Carolina.
Ace pitcher Sandy Alcantara had one request after modeling the new look. "We need it back, and we've got to play more than just one game every week in it," he said.
Why This Inspires
Sometimes the simplest gestures create the strongest connections. By bringing back teal, the Marlins aren't just changing their wardrobe. They're telling longtime fans their memories matter and showing new fans the history they're now part of.
The team worked with Major League Baseball and Fanatics to get every detail right, from the teal pinstripes on the pants to the classic Florida Marlins patch. Even the black hat nods to the 2003 World Series championship team.
Fans can buy the teal jerseys starting on Opening Day, March 27, when the Marlins host the Colorado Rockies. The team will debut the uniforms two days later on March 29.
For a franchise building toward the future, looking back turned out to be the perfect way forward.
