Michigan Fundraiser Raises $550K for Cancer Patients

The Beacon House provides a comfortable place to stay for families when someone they love is hospitalized at U.P. Health System Marquette. This year's fundraiser focused specifically on cancer patients and their unique needs during treatment.

Mary Tavernini-Dowling, CEO of Hospitality House of the Upper Peninsula, explained how every dollar makes a real difference. The funds buy Ensure drinks for patients who can't swallow solid food during treatment. They provide extra blankets and pillows for comfort during difficult nights.

The money also pays for shuttle drivers who transport patients to and from medical appointments. These practical touches transform a stressful hospital stay into a more manageable experience for families already facing tough times.
