Middle East Opens First Agri-Tech Innovation Hub in Sharjah

Farmers across the Middle East face a frustrating problem: how do you know if expensive new farming technology actually works before spending thousands of dollars on it?

Tathmeer Agri Tech just solved that challenge by opening the region's first Integrated Agri-Tech Innovation Centre in partnership with Sharjah Research, Technology and Innovation Park. The facility gives farmers a real-world testing ground for advanced agricultural technologies before they commit their capital.

The center brings together vertical farming systems, hydroponics, automated monitoring, and artificial intelligence under one roof. Farmers can watch these technologies operate in conditions similar to their own farms, see the actual results, and make informed decisions about what works.

Tathmeer partnered with Elevate Farms, a vertical farming company with operations in Canada, the United States, and Switzerland, to bring proven international technology to the UAE. The collaboration strengthens access to advanced systems that can help address the region's unique agricultural challenges.

The timing matters because the UAE faces serious constraints on traditional farming. Limited rainfall, scarce arable land, and extreme heat make conventional agriculture difficult, pushing food security to the top of national priorities.

Beyond technology testing, the center will train farmers, agronomists, and entrepreneurs through certification and skills development programs. The facility also houses Tathmeer's FarmBridge digital platform, which connects farmers with technology providers, investors, and potential buyers for their crops.

Hussain Al Mahmoudi, CEO of SPARK, emphasized that the center transforms research into practical economic value. The facility addresses strategic priorities including food security, sustainability, and economic diversification while creating an environment where international technologies can be tested and commercialized.

Layth Dwairi, CEO of Tathmeer Agri Tech, explained the core problem they're solving. Growers need a way to test technology before committing capital, and the center provides exactly that opportunity under real operating conditions.
