Minnesota Sheriffs Offer $2K Scholarships to 18 Students

Future peace officers in Minnesota have a new path to fund their training, thanks to a scholarship program that puts real money behind community safety careers.

The Minnesota Sheriffs' Association is offering 18 scholarships of $2,000 each this year to students pursuing law enforcement education. The program reaches across all 87 counties in the state, ensuring students from both rural and urban areas can access support.

Students qualify if they're enrolled in mandatory Peace Officer Standards and Training skills programs. Second-year students in two-year law enforcement programs also qualify, along with third and fourth-year students in four-year criminal justice degree programs.

The scholarships recognize a simple truth: training the next generation of peace officers shouldn't break the bank. Many students face tough choices between their career goals and mounting education costs, and this program helps bridge that gap.

Applications are available at county sheriff's offices or online at the Minnesota Sheriffs' Association website. The deadline is November 30, giving interested students plenty of time to gather their materials and apply.
