Minot Aces Win North Dakota 12U Baseball Championship

The Minot Aces 12U AAA baseball team just proved that small-town heart can beat anyone in North Dakota.

On August 2, these young athletes claimed the state championship title in the Babe Ruth League, defeating the Bismarck Americans 6-2 in a thrilling final game. The victory capped off a remarkable season where the team won 41 games, lost just seven, and tied once.

The road to the championship wasn't easy. The Aces had to battle through seven other teams in the state tournament, taking down Williston, Dickinson, and Fargo before facing Bismarck in the finals.

The championship round added extra drama when the Aces lost their first game against the Americans. Because of the double-elimination format, Bismarck needed to beat Minot twice to win the title. The young Aces refused to let that happen.

In the decisive game, Eyston R. got things rolling in the first inning with an RBI single that brought Steven M. home. Jase F. immediately followed with his own RBI single to right field, giving Minot an early 2-0 lead.

By the third inning, the Aces had built a commanding 4-0 advantage. The Americans managed to score two runs in the fourth inning, but that's where their comeback ended.

Strong defense and smart baseball kept Bismarck off the board for the rest of the game. Meanwhile, Minot added insurance runs in the fifth and sixth innings, with Brogan H. and Kipton K. crossing home plate to seal the 6-2 victory.
