Miss India 2023 Now Army Officer After Ranking 2nd Nationally
Kashish Methwani won Miss International India in 2023, then scored All India Rank 2 on one of the country's toughest military entrance exams. At 24, she's proving you don't have to choose between different dreams.
A beauty queen just traded her crown for combat boots, and her story is rewriting what ambition can look like.
Kashish Methwani, 24, won the Miss International India title in 2023. Instead of pursuing a traditional pageant career, she cracked the Combined Defence Services exam with All India Rank 2, securing her place as an Army officer.
Growing up in Ulhasnagar, Mumbai, Kashish was surrounded by service from the start. Her father worked as a scientist, and her mother taught at an Army Public School, creating a home where both intellect and dedication mattered.
Kashish excelled at everything she touched. She mastered Bharatanatyam, competed in debates, and later earned a Master's degree in Biotechnology while conducting neuroscience research at the Indian Institute of Science in Bengaluru.
But two childhood dreams stayed with her: wearing the Miss India crown and serving her country in uniform. Most people told her to pick one path.

She chose both.
After winning her pageant title, Kashish immediately began preparing for the CDS examination, one of India's most competitive defence entrance tests. In 2024, she scored All India Rank 2 among thousands of candidates.
Why This Inspires
Kashish's journey challenges the boxes society builds around women's ambitions. She didn't see pageantry and military service as opposites, she saw them as different expressions of the same courage.
Her transition shows young women they don't need permission to redefine success. You can be graceful and gritty, elegant and fierce, celebrated on stage and respected in service.
From conducting neuroscience research to representing India on international stages to preparing to defend the nation, Kashish has refused to shrink her dreams to fit someone else's expectations.
At 24, she's already proven that the most powerful thing a woman can do is decide for herself what success looks like, then work relentlessly to achieve it on her own terms.
