Missing Police Helicopter Found, All 4 Rescued Alive

Four law enforcement officers are safely home today after disappearing for nearly 24 hours during an anti-poaching investigation in South Africa's Kruger National Park.

The team, including two police investigators, a pilot, and an environmental crime investigator, took off Monday morning around 9 a.m. to investigate a suspicious animal carcass. They were expected back that same day.

The helicopter landed safely in a remote area of the park. But when the crew tried to walk through the dense bush, they became disoriented and couldn't find their way back to the aircraft.

Communication attempts failed throughout the day. The helicopter had been flying low, and poor mobile signal made it impossible to reach the crew by phone or radio.

By evening, officials realized something was wrong. The South African Police Service immediately launched a rescue operation, deploying another helicopter equipped with night vision technology and multiple drones.

Poor weather conditions forced the rescue helicopter to withdraw. But the drones kept searching through the darkness, scanning the thick vegetation for any sign of the missing team.

Tuesday morning brought the breakthrough everyone hoped for. Search teams successfully located the helicopter with all four occupants alive and unharmed.
