Missing Student Found After 47 Days, Reunited with Family

When Abhay Suresh Belkoni boarded a train to his medical college on April 4, he had no idea he wouldn't arrive for 47 days.

The 25-year-old third-year medical student lost his bag, phone, and all identification during the journey from Nanded to Jalgaon. Stranded in Mumbai without money or any way to contact home, he ended up on the streets begging for food.

On Thursday, Mumbai police officers conducting an anti-begging welfare drive found Abhay on SV Road in Malad. He was physically weak and struggling to communicate clearly due to mental health challenges, but he managed to share two critical details: his name and hometown.

Those two pieces of information changed everything. Officers verified his identity with the Tamsa police station in Nanded, where his desperate family had filed a missing person report on May 16.

Abhay's family had been searching frantically since April 6, when he briefly called them using a railway vendor's phone. The call dropped before he could explain what happened, and the vendor later told them Abhay had left.
