Missouri Hospital Adds EV Chargers for Patients, Staff

Electric vehicle drivers in mid-Missouri no longer have to worry about running low on charge during hospital visits. SSM Health St. Mary's Hospital in Jefferson City activated four universal charging stations this week, making sustainable transportation more accessible for their entire community.

The chargers went live in the Health Plaza outpatient parking lot, welcoming patients stopping by for appointments, families visiting loved ones, and employees working their shifts. Anyone with an electric vehicle can plug in and power up for just 20 cents per kilowatt-hour using the Noodoe app.

Justin Morley, interim regional president of SSM Health in Mid-Missouri, says the project advances the health system's environmental stewardship goals. But it's doing something equally important: removing a real barrier that keeps people from choosing electric vehicles.

Hospitals are perfect spots for EV charging infrastructure. People already spend significant time there for appointments, procedures, and visits, giving vehicles plenty of time to charge while parked.
