Morocco and India Launch New AI Partnership at Delhi Summit

Morocco just took a major step forward in becoming a regional tech hub, thanks to a groundbreaking partnership forged in New Delhi this week.

Minister Amal El Fallah Seghrouchni represented Morocco at the India AI Impact Summit 2026, where over 100 countries gathered from February 16 to 20. Unlike previous global tech meetings focused on regulation and theory, this summit zeroed in on results: how AI can actually improve healthcare, infrastructure, and government services in developing nations.

The gathering delivered concrete wins for Morocco. Tata Consultancy Services announced plans to explore opening a development center in the country. HCLTech, which launched a Moroccan operation just three years ago, has already tripled its workforce from 200 to 500 local IT professionals.

India's Ambassador to Morocco, Sanjay Rana, called the summit the start of a "very solid partnership" between the two nations. He confirmed that several Indian firms are eyeing opportunities in Morocco's data centers and digital infrastructure, attracted by the country's advances in renewable energy and governance reform.

Morocco signed onto the summit's declaration, which emphasizes transparent AI development, inclusive technology access, and stronger cooperation between developing nations. The agreement reflects Morocco's growing role in shaping how emerging economies approach digital transformation.

This partnership extends beyond Morocco's borders. Casablanca will host the 11th India-Africa ICT Expo on March 27 and 28, bringing together tech companies from India, Morocco, and across Africa.
