Morocco Farmers Get Electric Vehicles Through New Financing
Moroccan farmers will soon access affordable electric vehicles designed for rural work, thanks to a groundbreaking partnership between an automaker and agricultural bank. The program removes financial barriers that have kept sustainable transport out of reach for rural communities.
Farmers in rural Morocco are getting a major boost to their livelihoods through a new partnership that makes electric work vehicles affordable for the first time.
Stellantis Maroc and Crédit Agricole du Maroc signed an agreement in Agadir to offer tailored financing for the FIAT TRIS, an electric micro-mobility vehicle designed specifically for agricultural work. Through its subsidiaries Tamwil El Fellah and ARDI Microfinance, the bank will create payment plans matched to farmers' income patterns and seasonal work cycles.
The FIAT TRIS addresses real challenges rural workers face daily. The versatile vehicle transports produce from farms to markets, hauls agricultural equipment and supplies, supports cooperative logistics, and enables small-scale traders to distribute goods locally.
For many farming families, the upfront cost of reliable transportation has been an impossible barrier. This financing model changes that equation by spreading costs over time in ways that align with how farmers actually earn money throughout the year.

"This partnership is fully aligned with our commitment to making practical mobility more accessible, particularly for farmers and those working in rural areas," said Stellantis Morocco CEO Yves Peyrot des Gachons. The FIAT TRIS Cargo Box version provides a concrete solution to needs on the ground, and the new financing removes a major obstacle to adoption.
Mohammed Fikrat, chairman of Crédit Agricole du Maroc's Board of Directors, emphasized the program's role in advancing financial inclusion. The partnership allows beneficiaries to improve their mobility with electric vehicles, strengthen their economic activity, and support sustainable rural development.
The Ripple Effect
Beyond individual farmers, this initiative stands to transform entire rural communities. Better transportation means fresh produce reaches markets faster, reducing waste and increasing income. Cooperatives can operate more efficiently, creating jobs and economic opportunity where options have been limited.
The shift to electric vehicles also positions rural Morocco at the forefront of sustainable agriculture. Farmers gain cleaner, quieter transportation with lower operating costs than gas-powered alternatives.
Access to professional mobility tools has long separated thriving agricultural businesses from those barely getting by. This partnership proves that creative financing can bridge gaps that seemed permanent, opening doors for thousands of rural families to build more prosperous futures.
