Mother and Twin Sons Rescued After 3-Day Nigeria Kidnapping

A mother and her two young sons are back home safe after Nigerian police tracked down their kidnappers and rescued them within 72 hours of their abduction.

Mrs. Olaide Busayo Adegoke John-Paul and her 12-year-old twins, Peter and Paul, were taken at gunpoint on the morning of June 3 while she was driving them to school in Ibadan, Oyo State. The armed kidnappers ambushed their vehicle around 7:30 a.m., leaving the family's fate uncertain for three terrifying days.

But the Nigeria Police Force Intelligence Response Team refused to let the trail go cold. Officers worked around the clock gathering intelligence and tracking the kidnappers' movements through coordinated surveillance operations.

On June 6 at 7:30 p.m., the team located the family and moved in. The rescue operation turned into a confrontation when suspects opened fire, but all three family members emerged unharmed.

Police recovered two rifles from the scene. Two suspects were fatally wounded during the exchange, while other members of the kidnapping ring fled, some reportedly with gunshot injuries.
