MTN-WWF Offers $5K to Young African Climate Innovators

Young Africans with bold ideas to tackle climate change now have a major opportunity to turn their visions into reality. The MTN-WWF Africa PachiPanda Challenge 2026 is offering up to $5,000 in funding plus expert mentorship to youth-led businesses creating environmental solutions across Sub-Saharan Africa.

The program targets young innovators and small businesses working on everything from renewable energy to waste management. Applications opened July 29 and close August 28, giving entrepreneurs one month to submit their climate-focused solutions.

This partnership between telecommunications giant MTN and the World Wide Fund for Nature aims to discover the next generation of environmental leaders. The challenge welcomes projects addressing climate adaptation, biodiversity conservation, circular economy initiatives, and green technology innovations.

Selected participants won't just receive funding. They'll gain access to business incubation support, expert coaching, and networking opportunities with industry professionals. The program culminates in an October bootcamp where finalists pitch their solutions to experts.

The timeline moves quickly. MTN and WWF will announce the top 100 innovators by September 18, narrow down to 25 finalists by October 2, and reveal the top 10 by October 9. Winners take the stage October 23 after a four-day intensive bootcamp.
