🦸 Hero Alert

After losing his niece in a house fire, Abhishek Baheti created a smartwatch that helps parents track their children's location and respond to emergencies. His company won Rs 1 crore on Shark Tank India for watches that work independently without phones.

A 2010 house fire that killed his young niece and uncle sparked Mumbai entrepreneur Abhishek Baheti to create a device that could prevent similar tragedies.

Baheti's family couldn't reach help during the 30 to 40 minutes they fought to survive the smoke. "They could not reach out to the outer world on time, and nobody could come to their rescue," he recalls.

That devastating loss led him to develop WatchOut Wearables in 2022, creating smartwatches designed specifically for children and seniors. Unlike typical Bluetooth smartwatches, these devices work independently without requiring a phone nearby.

The children's watches include GPS tracking so parents always know their child's location. Kids can make 4G video calls directly from their wrist. An emergency SOS button sends instant alerts to parents.

The anti-removal sensor notifies parents if the watch comes off the child's wrist. Parents can even listen to background sounds to understand what's happening around their child. The watch also includes an activity tracker, music player, and object detection scanner for learning.

Jyotsana Jha from Dehradun bought one for her 10-year-old daughter who attends sports classes and tuition. "I can hear the background noise with the device which is not available with other smartwatches," she says. "It helps me know what is happening in her surroundings."

Baheti also developed watches for seniors that monitor body temperature, blood pressure, and oxygen levels. An anti-fall alarm alerts caregivers if an elderly person slips. "Usually in India, parents do not convey what they need, it needs to be understood," Baheti explains from his Mumbai home while his parents live in Surat.

The Ripple Effect

The company's impact extends beyond individual families. Working parents can confidently leave children with nannies knowing they can check in anytime. Families separated by countries stay connected through video calls on a child's wrist. Seniors living alone gain independence while their adult children monitor their health remotely.

Recently on Shark Tank India Season 2, Baheti appeared alongside his nephew Divyajeet, who survived the 2010 fire. The sharks were deeply moved by their story. Sugar Cosmetics CEO Vineeta Singh and Shaadi.com founder Anupam Mittal, who also lost his grandmother in a fire, offered Rs 1 crore for 10 percent equity plus Rs 1 crore debt.

The watches are made with breathable soft silicon for all-day comfort, and they work even when removed, allowing calls to children or seniors nearby.

One family's tragedy sparked innovation that now protects thousands of children and seniors across India.
