Murphy Youth Police Academy Offers Free Summer Camps

Murphy students will get a behind-the-scenes look at police work this summer thanks to two free Young Citizen's Police Academy camps.

Registration is now open for the weeklong programs running July 20-24 and July 27-31. Each camp meets Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., giving students a full day of activities and learning.

The camps are open to Murphy students entering grades six through 10 in the fall. Parents can sign up their children now for either week, depending on their summer schedule.

The Young Citizen's Police Academy gives students hands-on experience with law enforcement careers while building positive relationships between youth and officers. Past participants have learned about crime scene investigation, K-9 units, emergency response, and other aspects of police work.
