Netherlands Grants €50K for Digital Art Exploring Tech & Society

Artists and creative teams in the Netherlands now have major funding to explore one of our generation's biggest questions: how is technology changing us?

The Digital Culture Grant Scheme offers between €10,000 and €50,000 for projects that go beyond just using digital tools. Instead, it supports artistic research that investigates how algorithms influence our choices, how AI impacts creativity, or how digital communities reshape human connection.

Individual artists can apply for up to €25,000, while collaborative teams can request up to €50,000. The program runs through August 2026, giving creators time to develop meaningful proposals.

What makes this program special is its focus on critical thinking over flashy tech demos. The scheme wants projects that generate new perspectives on digital society, not just sleek applications of existing tools.

Projects might explore virtual environments that challenge how we think about identity, data visualizations that reveal hidden patterns in online behavior, or interactive experiences that make algorithmic culture tangible. One artist might investigate how social media platforms shape political discourse, while another experiments with AI as a creative collaborator.

The program requires applicants to cover at least 20 percent of project costs through other funding sources. This co-financing requirement ensures creators have skin in the game while still receiving substantial support for experimental work.
