New 28-Bed Recovery Campus Opens in Massena, New York

Getting help for addiction just became a lot easier in northern New York. St. Joseph's Addiction Treatment & Recovery Centers cut the ribbon on a brand-new recovery campus in Massena, designed to match the urgency of the addiction crisis with equally urgent access to care.

"If it's easy for people to become addicted to drugs and alcohol, we need to make it equally easy to get folks into care," said James Button, CEO of the organization. That mission drove the creation of this 28-bed, 8,000-square-foot facility built specifically for adults 18 and older struggling with substance use.

The building tells a story of adaptation. It once served as an addiction treatment center for children, but leaders noticed a growing need in the adult population. They invested half a million dollars to transform it into a modern, state-of-the-art recovery space.

Inside, residents find everything designed to support healing. A gym helps rebuild physical health while a common room and cafeteria create spaces for connection. Private bedrooms offer dignity and rest, and specialized programs guide each person's unique journey back to wellness.

The campus has already been open for about a month, currently serving 13 residents. Button says the feedback from those receiving care has been powerful: they're calling it life-saving treatment.

By expanding access to comprehensive addiction care, the campus doesn't just help individuals.
