New 99% Efficient EV Charger Cuts Costs, Works in Silence

Electric vehicle charging just got smarter, quieter, and more efficient thanks to a new breakthrough from ENSD, a China-based power electronics manufacturer.

The company's new Sirius 40Max charging module achieves an impressive 99% peak efficiency, meaning almost zero energy is wasted when charging electric vehicles. That translates directly into lower electricity costs for charging station operators and potentially cheaper charging for drivers.

But the real game changer might be what the module doesn't have: fans or liquid cooling systems. Instead of noisy mechanical parts that can break down, the Sirius 40Max uses natural cooling through a completely sealed design. The result is silent operation that makes fast charging stations viable in residential neighborhoods where noise complaints have been a barrier.

The fanless design also slashes maintenance needs. Without moving parts to wear out or cooling fluids to leak, the charging modules should last longer and cost less to maintain over time. The sealed construction keeps out dust and moisture, two enemies of electronic equipment in outdoor installations.

ENSD designed the module to handle punishing conditions. It operates in temperatures from negative 40 degrees Celsius to 85 degrees Celsius and works fine in high humidity, even in salty coastal environments. The rugged IP65 rating means it's protected against dust and water jets.

The module supports hot swapping, so technicians can replace a unit without shutting down the entire charging station. At 33 kilograms and roughly the size of a large suitcase, it's manageable for two-person installation teams.
