Modern passenger train traveling through European countryside connecting multiple countries along extended rail route

New €10 Train Route Connects Germany to Ukraine Border

😊 Feel Good

Starting June 25, travelers can ride one of Europe's longest direct train routes for as little as €10, connecting eight major cities across 1,300 kilometers. The new service links Western Europe to Ukraine's doorstep with daily departures in both directions.

Imagine boarding a single train in Frankfurt and waking up near the Ukrainian border, all for the price of lunch.

That's the reality starting June 25 when Leo Express launches one of Europe's longest direct train routes. The 1,300-kilometer journey will connect Germany, Czechia, and Poland with just one ticket and no transfers needed.

The route begins at Frankfurt Airport and winds through seven major cities: Erfurt, Leipzig, Dresden, Prague, Ostrava, Kraków, and finally Przemyśl on Poland's border with Ukraine. A train departs each direction daily, with tickets starting at just €10.

Peter Köhler, CEO of Leo Express, says the route does more than move people between cities. "We are removing the iron curtains between Western and Eastern Europe, connecting important European centres and providing access to Ukraine," he explained.

The timing works perfectly for travelers making connections. Westbound passengers arrive at Frankfurt Airport at 7:53 am, giving them easy access to flights across Europe and beyond. Eastbound riders leave Frankfurt at 8:27 am, reaching Prague by evening and Przemyśl early the next morning.

Every train comes equipped with wifi, power outlets, refreshments, and air conditioning. The 18-hour journey turns travel time into productive or restful time rather than a series of stressful connections.

The Ripple Effect

This route represents something bigger than convenient travel. It creates a physical link between communities that were separated for decades during the Cold War era.

Ukrainian refugees and their families now have affordable, direct access to Western Europe. Business travelers can skip expensive flights and multiple train changes. Students studying abroad can visit home without breaking their budgets.

The route also strengthens economic ties between Eastern and Western Europe, making collaboration easier for companies, universities, and cultural organizations. When travel becomes simpler and cheaper, more people make the journey.

Other rail operators are watching closely. If Leo Express succeeds, similar long-haul routes could connect other European cities that currently require multiple transfers or expensive flights.

The new service proves that sustainable, affordable long-distance travel isn't just possible but practical across an entire continent.
