Modern Froedtert ThedaCare medical center building in downtown Oshkosh, Wisconsin

New Oshkosh Hospital Creates 60 Healthcare Jobs

😊 Feel Good

Froedtert ThedaCare's new downtown Oshkosh medical center opened its doors Monday, bringing comprehensive healthcare closer to home and creating about 60 new jobs. The facility was designed to grow with the community, with expansion space already built in for future needs.

Healthcare just got more accessible in Oshkosh, and it's putting dozens of people to work.

Froedtert ThedaCare opened its new medical center in downtown Oshkosh on Monday, creating about 60 jobs in a field that desperately needs workers. The facility brings emergency care, inpatient beds, surgery, primary care, pediatrics, imaging, and even a drive-through pharmacy to the heart of the city.

"We know in an emergency that time matters and minutes count," said Jenny Nikolai, vice president of ThedaCare Medical Centers. The location means 73% of Oshkosh residents now live and work closer to emergency care when every second counts.

Many of the 60 new positions are already filled, with some employees transferring from other facilities and others brand new to the Froedtert ThedaCare team. Open positions still remain for those looking to join.

The timing couldn't be better. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics projects healthcare careers will grow faster than average over the next decade, with about 16,000 new openings annually for radiologic and MRI technologists alone nationwide.

The Ripple Effect

This isn't just about one hospital in one Wisconsin city. Froedtert ThedaCare operates 10 other hospitals across the state, all hiring for roles including respiratory therapists, CT technologists, pharmacy technicians, surgical technologists, and registered nurses.

The Oshkosh facility was built with tomorrow in mind. Planners added a third floor specifically for expansion, and the building can accommodate additional floors as the community grows.

"We built this facility to expand," said Lynn Detterman, president of the north region for Froedtert ThedaCare. "We can add not only to the medical offices building but also to our inpatient area."

That forward thinking means more career opportunities down the road. As the population ages and chronic conditions increase, hospitals are preparing for higher demand and the workers needed to meet it.

For job seekers in Wisconsin's healthcare field, the doors are wide open.
