"We've been to hell and back," said goalkeeper Kelly Jackson, who made two crucial interceptions in the final. "That has really galvanized the team. We were probably underestimated by a lot of people but man, it just feels so good."

Taurua showcased her tactical brilliance with a bold move during the tournament. She shifted Mila Reuelu-Buchanan to wing defense for the first time in her professional career, a position she had played just seven times in eight years as a pro.

"I didn't know you played wing defense," a fan told Reuelu-Buchanan after the win. "Yeah, I didn't know either," she laughed. The gamble paid off beautifully as the unfamiliar lineup clicked.
