Nigeria First Lady Brings ICT Center, Roads to Benue

Nigeria's First Lady is bringing good news to Benue State in the form of fresh pavement and digital opportunity.

Senator Oluremi Tinubu will visit the state on Tuesday to inaugurate 10 newly completed roads in Makurdi and open a community ICT center in Ihugh. The visit is part of her Renewed Hope Initiative, a nationwide program focused on empowering women and supporting vulnerable families.

The 10 roads stretch across 11.5 kilometers through Makurdi, the state capital. They're part of a larger project by Governor Hyacinth Alia's administration that has built more than 45 roads across the region.

Among the new routes are Ishaya Bakut Road, a dual carriageway, along with Abu King Shuluwa Road, Mama Mbateren Alia Street, and Jato-Aka Road. Local officials say the improved infrastructure will boost mobility, spark economic activity, and make daily life easier for residents.

The First Lady will also travel to Ihugh to hand over a fully equipped community ICT center. The technology hub will give residents access to digital tools and training, opening doors to new skills and opportunities in an increasingly connected world.

During her visit, Senator Tinubu will meet directly with local women and beneficiaries of the Renewed Hope Initiative. These conversations help the program understand what communities actually need and ensure support reaches the people who need it most.

This collaboration between federal and state governments shows what's possible when leaders work together for citizens. Governor Alia called the visit "a positive demonstration" of partnership focused on improving lives, especially for women and families.

Scholastica Bensor, the state coordinator for the initiative, says women across Benue are excited to welcome the First Lady. Preparations are complete, and community leaders are encouraging large turnouts to celebrate the new infrastructure and opportunities coming to their neighborhoods.
