Nigeria Hires 6,500 Teachers for Smart Green Schools

Over 6,500 qualified teachers will soon be shaping young minds in Enugu State, Nigeria, thanks to a bold commitment from Governor Peter Mbah to reimagine what public education can look like.

The recruitment covers positions from classroom teachers to technical staff and administrators across primary and secondary schools throughout the state. Every hire will support the rollout of 267 Smart Green Schools, a forward-thinking initiative designed to blend modern learning with environmental sustainability.

Professor Hyginus Banko, who chairs the Enugu State Universal Basic Education Board, announced the approval this week. He emphasized that the hiring push isn't just about filling seats but about bringing qualified educators who can deliver quality learning to every corner of the state.

The requirements show Enugu isn't cutting corners. Teachers need at least a Bachelor's Degree in Education or a related field with additional teaching credentials. Registration with Nigeria's Teachers Registration Council is mandatory, and every candidate must demonstrate practical skills with modern technology tools.

The application window stays open until August 14, 2026, giving interested educators plenty of time to prepare their materials. Candidates can submit applications either in person or electronically through the education board's official channels.
