Nigeria Launches 112 Emergency Medical Hotline Nationwide

Getting an ambulance during a medical crisis in Nigeria just became dramatically easier.

The National Emergency Medical Service and Ambulance System announced that Nigerians can now dial 112 from anywhere in the country to reach trained emergency medical responders. The service operates around the clock, every single day of the year.

The new system covers 35 states plus the Federal Capital Territory, giving millions of people direct access to professional emergency care. Each state maintains its own call center working alongside the national 112 number to ensure faster response times.

States like Lagos offer both 112 and 767, while Ekiti provides multiple backup numbers including 08000606606 and a series of 0811111 options. Rivers State lists four different emergency numbers, and Akwa Ibom offers three separate hotlines to ensure residents can always get through.

The government designed the system with redundancy in mind. If one number is busy, callers can try alternative state numbers to connect with emergency services quickly.

Professional first responders staff every call center, ready to dispatch ambulances and provide life-saving guidance over the phone. The service aims to deliver rapid response and professional medical care during those critical first minutes when every second counts.
