Nigeria Launches Abuja-Gusau Flights Next Month

Getting to Zamfara State in northwest Nigeria is about to become a whole lot easier.

XEJet Limited will begin flying passengers between Abuja and Gusau starting next month, thanks to a partnership agreement signed this week with Zamfara State Government. The airline will operate twice weekly flights connecting Nigeria's capital to a region that has long struggled with accessibility.

Deputy Governor Malam Mani Mummuni chaired Monday's signing ceremony, where officials emphasized how the new route fits into the state's larger vision. Gusau International Airport was built from scratch and completed in just two years, a project designed specifically to boost economic opportunity.

"The main goal of constructing the airport is to make it easier and more efficient for people and goods to move, which should help boost the economy," the Deputy Governor explained. Governor Dauda Lawal has been actively courting international investors, and improved transportation infrastructure makes the state far more attractive for business.
