Nigeria Opens Advanced Heart Center in Kaduna

Thousands of Nigerians who once had to travel overseas for heart treatment now have hope closer to home.

A state-of-the-art cardiac center opens Tuesday in Kaduna, Nigeria, bringing advanced cardiovascular diagnosis and treatment to patients across the region. The facility was built through a partnership between Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani's administration and the Muslim World League.

The center in Tudun Wada will serve patients regardless of religious background, offering specialized heart care that previously required expensive trips abroad. Secretary General of the Muslim World League, Sheikh Mohammed Bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa, will formally open the facility.

Director General of Kaduna's Interfaith Bureau, Tahir Umar Tahir, said the center represents a major step forward in reducing medical tourism. Patients seeking cardiac treatment have long faced the difficult choice between going without care or spending thousands traveling to other countries.

The cardiac center joins broader healthcare improvements across Kaduna State. The administration has upgraded all 255 primary healthcare centers to Level 2 status and expanded maternal and child health services throughout the region.

The state recently commissioned the Bola Ahmed Tinubu Specialist Hospital in June 2025, adding to its growing network of specialized medical facilities. Healthcare workers have also seen support through maintained salary structures and continuous professional development programs.
