Nigerian Army Rescues Kidnapped Officer After 10 Days

After 10 days of relentless searching, Nigerian Army troops successfully rescued a kidnapped senior military officer and a civilian from their captors in Enugu State. The dramatic rescue unfolded in the early hours of Friday following a coordinated effort by multiple military units.

Lt. Col. Ofor Amobi and civilian Ikechukwu Onwuanra were found abandoned at the edge of a forest in Inyi. Troops from Operation UDO KA, including the 82 Division Garrison, Nigerian Navy Special Boat Service, and special forces units, had been searching relentlessly across multiple forest areas and communities.

The breakthrough came at 2:00 a.m. when local police shared critical intelligence about the victims' location. Within hours, military teams launched a fighting patrol and located both men alive.

Both victims had sustained gunshot wounds during their captivity but are now receiving treatment at the 82 Division Medical Hospital. According to preliminary reports, the kidnappers had blindfolded them and moved them to an unknown location along the Enugu-Anambra border.

The Bright Side

The victims themselves credited the military's sustained pressure for saving their lives. The constant pursuit denied the kidnappers any freedom of movement, ultimately forcing them to abandon their captives and flee.
