Nigerian College Gets Solar Power and Starlink Internet

Students at Osun State College of Technology in Esa-Oke, Nigeria, can finally access online learning resources without interruption thanks to a major infrastructure upgrade that brought solar power and Starlink internet to campus.

The Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) completed its Skills Development Intervention at the college in June 2026, installing a mini-solar power grid and Starlink internet infrastructure. These were facilities the college couldn't afford on its own for years.

The transformation has been dramatic. Rector S.A. Adewumi praised the intervention as instrumental in improving both academic and administrative activities across the institution.

Before the upgrade, unreliable electricity and poor internet connectivity made modern teaching nearly impossible. Lecturers struggled to use digital tools, students couldn't access online resources, and administrative work constantly stalled.

Now the college runs on stable electricity and reliable high-speed internet every day. This allows professors to deliver industry-focused training using modern teaching tools and ensures students can access the digital resources they need to succeed.

The improvements go beyond just keeping the lights on. The college can now offer practical, skills-based education that prepares graduates for real jobs in today's workforce.
