Nigerian Muslims Mark Eid With Ram Donations, Peace Calls
A major Nigerian Muslim organization celebrated Eid al-Adha by distributing rams and cash to families across multiple communities while calling for unity during challenging times. The group also provided support to over two million pilgrims gathering in Saudi Arabia for the annual Hajj.
As millions of Muslims worldwide celebrated Eid al-Adha this week, one Nigerian organization turned the festival of sacrifice into real support for families in need.
The Nasrul-Lahi-L-Fatih Society (NASFAT), a prominent Muslim group in Nigeria, distributed rams and cash gifts to communities both within Nigeria and abroad. The donations helped families celebrate the holiday even during tough economic times.
NASFAT President Alhaji Ayodeji Abdulrauf shared the message in a statement released Monday, reminding Muslims that the festival celebrates faith, sacrifice and caring for those who need help most. He emphasized that Eid al-Adha offers a chance for prayer, reflection and charity.
The celebration came as more than two million Muslims from around the world gathered in Saudi Arabia for the Hajj pilgrimage. Abdulrauf praised the pilgrims and noted that NASFAT's travel agency, Tafsan Tours and Travel Limited, continued supporting Nigerian pilgrims during their sacred journey.
He highlighted the unifying power of Hajj, describing it as a gathering that brings together Muslims regardless of race, nationality or social status. The president wished pilgrims a "Hajj Mabroor," meaning an accepted pilgrimage, and prayed for their safe return.

The Ripple Effect
Abdulrauf pointed to the broader contributions Muslims make in Nigerian society, from medicine and technology to education and business. He said these contributions strengthen communities across the country and drive national development.
While acknowledging security challenges and economic hardship facing many Nigerians, the NASFAT president called for peace and dialogue to address these issues. He extended that call beyond Nigeria's borders, expressing concern for civilians suffering in conflicts in Gaza, Sudan and Ukraine.
The organization advocated for peaceful negotiations and humanitarian support for conflict victims. Abdulrauf specifically mentioned support for a two-state solution between Palestinians and Israelis and called for international protection of vulnerable groups like the Rohingya Muslims in Myanmar and Uyghur Muslims in China.
His message urged people to use the Eid period to strengthen relationships, promote tolerance and show kindness. "In the spirit of Eid al-Adha, let us renew our commitment to compassion, empathy and mutual respect," he said.
The call for unity resonated during a time when communities need connection most.
