Nigerian Troops Rescue 2 Kidnap Victims in Plateau State

Two kidnapping victims are breathing easier today after Nigerian troops rescued them during a daring patrol in Plateau State. The soldiers encountered the criminals while they were moving their captives to a hideout near Kukawa village.

The victims had been taken at gunpoint on February 22 from Mansur village in neighboring Bauchi State. When troops from Operation Enduring Peace spotted the kidnappers during their patrol, the criminals abandoned their captives and fled into nearby bushes.

Chinonso Oteh, the military spokesperson, said both victims have been debriefed and reunited with their families. Troops are now searching the area to track down the suspects and check for other potential victims.

In a second win for safety, soldiers deployed in Kaduna State intercepted a suspected gun runner during a routine checkpoint stop. Vincent Ibrahim, 36, was allegedly transporting five locally made rifles to Kafanchan when troops stopped him at Kurmin Goro village.

These rescues come at a crucial time for communities across Plateau State, where recent violence has claimed at least 30 lives in separate attacks. The successful operations show that coordinated military efforts can disrupt criminal networks before they cause more harm.

Security forces have ramped up patrols across trouble spots in Plateau and surrounding states. General Folusho Oyinlola, who commands Operation Enduring Peace, praised his troops for their quick thinking and commitment to protecting innocent lives.

Governor Caleb Mutfwang recently held an emergency security meeting after the deadly attacks, urging residents to avoid revenge actions while authorities work to restore peace. The military's recent successes suggest those efforts are gaining ground.
