Nigeria's Flamingos Score 9 Goals in Two Wins

Nigeria's Flamingos are lighting up the soccer field in Côte d'Ivoire, scoring nine goals across just two matches at the WAFU B U-17 Girls' Cup. The young team beat Ghana 4-2 on Friday in what fans call the "Jollof Derby," maintaining their perfect tournament record.

The match showcased the Flamingos' fighting spirit. Oluwakemi Adegbuyi scored first in the 33rd minute, followed by captain Harmony Chidi's goal right before halftime to put Nigeria up 2-0.

Ghana's captain Seidatu Wahab pulled one back in the 62nd minute, giving her team hope. But Mary Dunstan answered eight minutes later to restore Nigeria's two-goal cushion.

The game took a challenging turn when Elizabeth Adesuyi received a red card in the 59th minute. Playing down a player for the final 30 minutes could have spelled disaster for most teams.

Instead, the Flamingos showed incredible resilience. Kaosarat Akanji added a fourth goal in the 87th minute, and even though Ghana's Gloria Ameaa scored in stoppage time, Nigeria's victory was secure.

This win came just three days after the Flamingos demolished Niger Republic 5-0 in their opening match. Captain Chidi scored in that game too, alongside teammates Awawu Bashiru, Ohunene Sunday, Dunstan, and Ayomide Rotimi.
