Early Friday morning in Oregon, Oji became Nigeria's first-ever field event gold medalist at the World U20 Athletics Championships. Her winning shot put throw of 18.08 meters didn't just earn her the title. It shattered a barrier no Nigerian athlete had broken before.

Oji dominated the competition from her very first throw. She opened at 18.05 meters, improved to her winning mark of 18.08 meters, and closed with another impressive 18.07 meters. No other athlete in the competition even reached the 18-meter mark.
