Novo Partners With AI to Speed New Drug Development

"Joining forces with Anthropic will supercharge our R&D organization and help us on our mission to bring new, transformative health solutions to people living with chronic diseases," said Mike Doustdar, Novo's president and CEO. Beyond boosting productivity, he believes AI tools can unlock completely new scientific opportunities.

Dario Amodei, Anthropic's co-founder and CEO, sees even bigger potential. "AI's increasing capability brings with it the potential to compress a century's worth of biological and medical breakthroughs into a decade," he explained.

The technology could shorten research timelines, improve outcomes, and help discover treatments that significantly improve human life. By giving leading researchers access to advanced AI models, scientists can analyze complex datasets and identify potential drugs faster than ever before.

This isn't Novo's first AI partnership. The company sealed a deal with OpenAI in April to use their science tool GPT-Rosalind for similar work. In 2024, the Novo Nordisk Foundation partnered with Nvidia to establish Denmark's first AI-ready supercomputer dedicated to health innovation.
