Nvidia Partners with SK Hynix to Build AI Future in Korea

South Korea is about to become a major powerhouse in the global AI revolution, thanks to groundbreaking partnerships announced this week between Nvidia and the country's tech giants.

Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang traveled to South Korea to seal deals with memory chip leader SK hynix, internet company Naver, and technology conglomerate Doosan. The partnerships focus on building massive AI data centers and developing the advanced memory chips that make artificial intelligence possible.

SK hynix will work with Nvidia over multiple years to ensure a stable supply of cutting-edge memory chips for AI systems worldwide. The two companies will jointly develop next-generation memory specifically designed for what Huang calls "AI factories," the data centers that train and run powerful AI models.

"Advanced memory is at the core of their performance," Huang explained. The partnership will accelerate AI infrastructure globally, from training the most advanced AI models to powering intelligent robots and self-driving vehicles.

SK hynix will also use Nvidia's simulation technology to speed up how it designs and manufactures new chips. This collaboration could help solve one of AI's biggest challenges: getting enough powerful chips to meet skyrocketing demand.

Meanwhile, SK Telecom is building a gigawatt-scale AI cloud in South Korea powered entirely by Nvidia technology. The first data center will go online early next year, with more facilities planned across the country.

Naver will expand its existing AI data center in Sejong and build additional gigawatt-scale facilities, depending on power availability. Doosan plans to use Nvidia's technology in its intelligent robots while providing energy solutions for Nvidia's data centers.

These partnerships position South Korea as a critical player in the global AI race. The country already dominates memory chip manufacturing through SK hynix and Samsung, producing components that power AI systems worldwide.
