Oklahoma Cancer Nonprofit Has Helped 60,000 Families

When cancer survivors stepped onto the runway at Oklahoma City's Criterion venue, a thousand voices rose in celebration of their courage and beauty.

Tenaciously Teal's 11th annual Care Packs and Cocktails fundraiser transformed what could have been a somber topic into a joyful community celebration. The fashion show featured cancer survivors of all ages strutting down the catwalk while friends, family, and strangers cheered them on.

The numbers tell a powerful story of sustained impact. Since its founding more than a decade ago, Tenaciously Teal has distributed nearly 60,000 cancer care packs to Oklahoma families. The organization has also provided $500,000 in direct financial assistance to families facing the often crushing costs of cancer treatment.

But the support goes beyond money and supplies. Tenaciously Teal hosts "Brave Shave" parties for people facing hair loss during treatment, turning a difficult moment into a celebration of strength.

Among the models walking the runway was journalist Lillie-Beth Brinkman, who was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2020 after a routine screening. Her tumor measured just 3 millimeters, caught early because she kept up with regular mammograms.

More than two dozen survivors participated in the fashion show, ranging from young children to retirees. The organization's team provided professional hair and makeup services, ensuring every model felt their best under the spotlight.

The Ripple Effect

What started as one woman's mission has grown into a community movement. Founder and CEO Tarah Green built Tenaciously Teal on a simple principle: loving people by supporting them through one of life's hardest battles.

The fundraiser included auctions, photo booths, and a wine pull, giving attendees multiple ways to contribute. Every dollar raised goes directly toward care packs filled with practical items like soft blankets, journals, and comfort items that hospitals don't provide but patients desperately need.

The event proves that celebrating resilience can be just as powerful as fighting the disease itself.
