Oklahoma Wins First Baseball Title in 32 Years

After 32 years of waiting, the Oklahoma Sooners are champions again.

The Sooners dominated North Carolina 13-2 on Monday night to win the Men's College World Series in Omaha, Nebraska. It's their first national championship since 1994 and only the third in program history.

The victory came when Oklahoma needed it most. After losing Game 2 on Sunday, the Sooners faced a winner-take-all finale with everything on the line.

Their offense answered the call with 14 hits and 13 runs. Five different players recorded multiple hits as the team clicked at exactly the right moment.

Shortstop Jaxon Willits went 3-for-4 and reached base five times, including a two-run single in the fourth inning that broke the game wide open. Dayton Tockey added a solo home run in the fifth to keep the momentum rolling.

The biggest hero was second baseman Kyle Branch, batting from the nine hole. He finished with three hits and six RBIs, capping the night with a three-run homer in the eighth inning that sealed the championship.

On the mound, the Sooners got exactly what they needed. Freshman Nick Wesloski set the tone early, and reliever LJ Mercurius was brilliant for nearly six innings, allowing just one run. Jackson Cleveland struck out the final three batters to lock down the title.

This championship extends an impressive streak for the SEC conference, which has now won seven consecutive College World Series titles. Oklahoma joins a proud tradition of conference excellence while creating their own legacy.
