Pacifica Girls Win First Wrestling Title After 260-Mile Trip

A 260-mile road trip and 12 grueling hours on a bus might sound like an obstacle, but for the Pacifica High girls wrestling team, it became the prelude to their greatest achievement.

The Tritons made the long journey from their home to Wildomar on Thursday, stepping onto the mat determined to make every mile worth it. They dominated eight of 14 matches in the Division 3 team duals final against host Elsinore, clinching the first CIF-Southern Section championship in program history.

"It really was worth the trip," said senior Shaire Anzures. "It was tough for everyone, but we pulled through it."

The team showed their championship mettle when it mattered most, winning the final two matches to edge past Elsinore and seal the historic victory. The grueling travel schedule could have been an excuse, but instead it became fuel for their determination.
