Today, 92 of AkzoNobel's manufacturing sites worldwide run on 100% renewable power, covering nearly 70% of their global operations. "We set out a clear vision to become carbon neutral by 2050 and we're proud to have taken an important step toward realizing that goal," says Wijnand Bruinsma, the company's director of sustainability. He points out that leading by example helps convince others in the supply chain to follow suit.

At their facility in Pilawa, Poland, workers replaced old gas boilers with modern heat pumps and installed what's now the company's largest solar energy plant in Europe. Their Interpon powder coatings brand launched an energy calculator that helps customers analyze gas usage, oven temperatures, and production flow to cut their own carbon footprints.
