Panda Express Gives $1K to Youth Club at Apollo Beach Opening

When Panda Express opened its doors in Apollo Beach on July 16, the celebration was about more than just serving up fresh orange chicken.

The restaurant kicked off its first day at 5577 N. U.S. 41 by presenting a $1,000 check to the Wimauma Boys & Girls Club at Bethune Park. The donation will fund after-school programs and youth outreach efforts that keep local kids engaged and supported.

The grand opening drew a crowd of eager residents ready to try the nation's largest American Chinese dining chain. The first 88 guests in line scored limited-edition "Hot Orange Chicken" t-shirts, and a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 9:30 a.m. made the opening official.

Beyond the charitable kickoff, the new location is already making an economic impact. The restaurant hired nearly 40 community members, providing jobs in an area that can always use more employment opportunities.

The restaurant itself showcases Panda Express's modern "Panda Home" design, blending Eastern and Western styles with red lanterns, a moon gate portal, and colorful Chinatown-inspired signage. With seating for 54 guests and a double drive-through lane, the location is built for both sit-down meals and grab-and-go convenience.
