Parents Find Hope in Missing Man's Active Investigation

When Ross McLennan and Kellie Moody sat down with Queensland's police minister last week, they heard words that lifted a weight they'd carried for over a year. Police assured them the search for their missing son Jack remains very active, with significant evidence compiled.

Jack McLennan, 27, disappeared on October 4, 2024, after being last seen at Ficks Crossing waterhole near Murgon, Queensland. He'd taken the Friday off work to move house and spend time with friends.

For months, his parents felt frustrated by the lack of information they could access about the investigation. Ross traveled from Tasmania and Kellie from the Kingaroy region to meet with Police Minister Dan Purdie in Brisbane, determined to understand what progress had been made.

"I was promised they are going to see this through, that this remains a very active investigation," Ross said after the meeting. "The load was lifted a little bit. There was a ray of hope."
