Patna Tech School Bets on Tier II Cities First

When Mohit Choudhary and his co-founders decided to launch a tech school, they made a choice that surprised everyone. They opened their first campus in Patna, not Bangalore or Mumbai.

The decision wasn't sentimental. Choudhary, who grew up in Patna, saw talented students compromising their education simply because they couldn't afford to move to a metro city after high school.

Around 60 to 70 percent of students in Bihar can't afford the cost of relocating for college, especially if they don't secure spots in government institutions like IITs. The state has just eight colleges per 100,000 young people, the lowest density in India.

So Quad AI brought the education to them. The school launched its first four-year computer science program in Patna in 2025, with campuses now in Bengaluru and Mangalore too.

The model relies on practitioners from companies like Microsoft, Google, Amazon, and Zepto flying in to teach. A small resident team stays on campus year-round to track each student's progress and ensure the sessions build on each other coherently.

But the founders faced a obvious question. How do you convince parents to trust a model before anyone has graduated?

Their answer: show results now, not in four years. Sultan Ansari joined barely able to speak English and landed a paid front-end developer internship within a year. Anurag Shree failed Class 12 math but now holds the campus's highest-paid internship.

First-year students have already won competitions at IIT Bombay, IIT Dhanbad, and BITS Pilani. They're participating in design workshops with Zepto, hackathons, and partnership programs with Google Developer Groups.

Why This Inspires

This isn't just about one school. It's about challenging the assumption that quality tech education can only happen in big cities.

Quad built their program in stackable stages. If a student needs to leave after two years, they leave with a qualification, not just a transcript. They can return later to finish.

The school is betting that talent isn't concentrated in metros. It's everywhere, just waiting for the right opportunity to show up where students already live.
