Penn State wrestling just cemented their place in sports history with a fifth straight NCAA Championship, shattering their own team scoring record with 181.5 points. The Nittany Lions were so dominant that they clinched the team title before the championship bouts even began.

The team brought home four individual national champions from the 2026 tournament. Mitchell Mesenbrink crushed his opponent 20-4 at 165 pounds, improving his record to 9-0 against Iowa's Mikey Caliendo in what's becoming one of wrestling's most one-sided rivalries.

Levi Haines won a nail-biter at 174 pounds, edging Nebraska's Christopher Minto 2-1 in a match decided by a single stalling penalty. Josh Barr's victory at 197 pounds pushed Penn State past their own NCAA team scoring record from last season.

Luke Lilledahl rounded out the champions at 285 pounds with a 2-1 decision that came down to a crucial stalling call. The freshman stayed unbeaten and added another belt to State College's growing collection.

Oklahoma State's Sergio Vega provided one of the tournament's most remarkable performances, becoming the first undefeated true freshman champion since 1947 with a sudden victory win at 141 pounds. Minnesota's Max McEnelly finally broke through at 184 pounds, winning the Gophers' first title at that weight class ever.
