Pennsylvania Factory Expansion Creates 30 Jobs in Hermitage

A manufacturing plant in Hermitage, Pennsylvania is about to get a whole lot busier, bringing dozens of new jobs to a community that has counted on the facility for over 40 years.

CCL Container, a leading aluminum packaging manufacturer, announced plans to invest $16.3 million in expanding its Mercer County facility. The company will install a brand new production line that will nearly double what the plant can make, creating 30 new positions over the next three years while protecting 302 existing jobs.

The expansion comes as CCL Container responds to growing customer demand for its aluminum bottles and cans, which serve everything from personal care products to beverages. Pennsylvania supported the project with $160,000 in grants, including funding to train workers on the new equipment.

For more than four decades, CCL Container has been a cornerstone employer in Hermitage. The company operates advanced manufacturing lines that produce containers in countless sizes, shapes, and styles, with sophisticated decorating capabilities that keep customers coming back.

Since 2023, the state has attracted over $41 billion in private sector investments creating more than 24,000 jobs across various industries, from pharmaceuticals to food processing to advanced materials.

Rod Wilt of Penn-Northwest Development Group celebrated CCL Container's decision to grow where they're planted. After four decades as a Mercer County mainstay, the company could have moved production elsewhere but instead chose to deepen its roots in the community that helped build its success.

The new production line should be operational within the next few years, ramping up output to meet both current orders and anticipated future growth. For 30 families in the Hermitage area, that timeline represents something concrete to look forward to: a stable job, a steady paycheck, and the chance to build a future in the place they call home.
