Pennsylvania Launches 300,000-Worker Training Program

A Pennsylvania community college is launching the nation's first large-scale workforce development program designed to train 300,000 skilled workers for the jobs of tomorrow.

Luzerne County Community College President John Yudichak announced the P.A. Works initiative during a roundtable discussion in Nanticoke on Monday. The program responds to massive infrastructure and technology investments flowing into the state, including a $10 billion commitment from Amazon Web Services.

"We're investing in the development of 300,000 new skilled trade workers in Pennsylvania," Yudichak said. The program positions the state to lead in workforce capacity as industries from manufacturing to data centers expand operations.

The announcement comes as Pennsylvania attracts major capital investments. Companies are eyeing the region for energy infrastructure, advanced manufacturing, and technology projects that require thousands of construction workers and skilled technicians.
