Plazza Raises $15M to End India's Medicine Hunt
A new healthtech startup just solved a problem that affects millions of Indians: actually finding the medicines your doctor prescribed. Plazza's AI-powered pharmacies stock 40,000 medicines and deliver in 15 minutes.
Imagine leaving your doctor's office with a prescription, then spending hours visiting pharmacy after pharmacy trying to find your medicines in stock. For millions of Indians, this isn't a rare frustration. It's everyday reality.
Plazza, a Bengaluru startup founded in 2024, just raised $15 million to change that. The company secured Series A funding from Accel, Elevation Capital, and Nexus Venture Partners to expand its rapid medicine delivery platform across India.
Here's the problem Plazza is solving. India's $30 billion pharmacy market is dominated by small neighborhood chemists that typically stock only 5,000 medicines out of more than 100,000 available products. Patients often visit multiple stores just to complete a single prescription, with industry fulfillment rates hovering around 50 to 60%.
Founder Aman Priyadarshi built Plazza around a simple belief: medicine availability shouldn't depend on luck. His solution combines neighborhood pharmacies with AI-powered inventory planning that predicts what medicines each local community actually needs.
Each Plazza outlet carries more than 40,000 different medicines, enabling prescription fulfillment rates above 95%. The AI system continuously analyzes prescribing patterns at the neighborhood level, so every store maintains inventory tailored to local demand. Medicines arrive within 15 to 30 minutes of ordering.

The model is working. Since launching last year, Plazza has grown its transaction volume nearly 27-fold between June 2024 and March 2025. Repeat customers now order baskets about 30% larger than first-time buyers, suggesting genuine trust in the service.
The Ripple Effect
Plazza's impact extends beyond convenience. When patients can't find their prescribed medicines, they sometimes skip doses, substitute without guidance, or abandon treatment entirely. Reliable access means better health outcomes across entire communities.
The fresh funding will strengthen Plazza's AI technology, expand its pharmacy network into new cities, and enhance operational capabilities. This follows the company's $1.4 million seed round from September 2024.
"What stood out to us was not simply faster delivery but a fundamentally different operating model," said Chirag Chadha, Partner at Elevation Capital. Investors see Plazza solving a structural healthcare problem rather than just offering speed.
In a cautious investment climate, healthtech remains one of India's most resilient funding sectors. Investors continue backing startups that improve healthcare access, efficiency, and affordability for India's 1.4 billion people.
Medicine availability is now becoming predictable instead of a gamble.
