Poland's Rutkowski Wins First World Title at Para Shooting

Poland's Boguslaw Rutkowski proved that debut performances can be championship worthy, scoring 247.7 points to win gold in the visually impaired rifle category at the World Shooting Para Sport Championships in Changwon, South Korea.

The 31-year-old faced stiff competition from former champions but stayed calm under pressure. His consistent series of perfect 10s, including a crucial 10.8 in the second-to-last round, secured the victory over silver medalist Barbara Moskal of Poland and Italy's Heloise Mendouze in bronze.

"I'm so excited as it is my first World Championships, so it's big," Rutkowski said after his win. "I think I did good work, and I was ready for this, so I wasn't so much stressed. And now it's just the beginning."

The final day of competition delivered drama across multiple events. Sweden's Anna Benson finally captured her first gold medal at these championships after taking silver in two previous Paralympic Games, winning the 50-meter rifle prone event with 249.5 points.

The lead changed hands repeatedly between Benson, Slovakia's Radoslav Malenovsky, and Poland's Marek Dobrowolski. Benson's consistency under pressure made the difference, maintaining scores of 10.0 and higher while her competitors faltered in crucial moments.
